Privacy Policy — LLM Context Clipper

LLM Context Clipper (“the extension”) is a Chrome extension that lets you collect pieces of web pages into a Markdown “context pack” and save pages as Markdown, for use with large language models. This policy explains exactly what the extension does and does not do with your information. It is intentionally short because the extension is built to keep everything on your own device.

The short version

The extension collects no personal data, has no servers, and sends nothing anywhere. Everything it creates stays in your browser until you choose to copy or download it.

What we collect

Nothing. The extension does not collect, store on our side, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. There are no user accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party services.

What the extension stores, and where

• Your context pack (the clips you capture — their Markdown, titles, and source URLs) and your preferences (such as your chosen picker-highlight style) are stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local.
• This data never leaves your device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.
• The Markdown you export goes only where you put it: onto your clipboard or into a .md file you download.

Permissions and why they exist

• activeTab / scripting — to run the clipper and the page reader on the tab you explicitly act on, only when you trigger them.
• storage — to save your context pack and preferences locally.
• clipboardWrite — to copy your assembled pack to the clipboard when you export.
• contextMenus — to add the right-click “Add selection to context pack” item.
• offscreen — to write to the clipboard reliably even on restricted pages.

The extension requests no host permissions and no access to your general browsing history.

Network activity

The extension makes no network requests of its own. It contains no remote code; all of its code ships inside the installed package. It does not phone home.

Data retention and deletion

Your data lives in your browser’s local storage for as long as you keep it. You can clear your pack from the extension’s popup at any time, and uninstalling the extension removes all of its stored data.

Children

The extension is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
